Map Projection is a method that is used in the works of Cartography. Cartography stands for Map Making. This method is used to symbolize two dimensional curved surfaces as the surface of the earth; they can also refer to any other body on the plane. It can also refer to any other function on the surface of the earth with different values. They need not be a geometric projection. Flat styled maps would not have existed without Map Projection. The flat shaped maps can be very useful than the globe in various different situations.

Flat Maps are more compact and can be stored easily. In their small size they can fit in an enormous range of the world, or any other detail that has to be published on them.
