How Do You Define Fairness?

Fairness can be defined in many ways depending on the situation. Fairness could mean a pale complexion or lightness of skin colour. It could also indicate something in conformity with some law or rule or standard, like for instance "the magistrate saw the fairness of his claim". Fairness also is used to denote decisions that are free from any bias or dishonesty like for example "In all fairness the wife should inherit". It could also mean being good looking or very attractive.

For example, women are regarded as the fairer sex. A fair sky is one without clouds or storms. A fair idea of something means to gauge something satisfactorily. A fair name is one which is not tarnished or blemished. A fair tactic is one which is accordance with the rules. A fair promise is usually used to denote a superficial one.
