Direction: Inference draws from; implication points to. I infer that you have been drinking by your slurred speech, unstable gait, etc. I see evidence; I draw a conclusion. Implication suggests without directly stating: It offers a conclusion indirectly. "You might want to run a spell-checker over that." "Are you implying that I can't spell?"
