Not if you are using it as a common noun - but if you are stating the name of a church then it should be capitalized

The church was just down the road from the park.
St Patrick's Church was just down the road from the park.

Yes and no. Yes when referring to "thee" Church. The body of believers as "the Church". No when referring to a local congregation. Only as long as there is no title used before it. E.g., Anaheim First Baptist Church or "I attend a local church where I live".
