Well data flow diagram show the process of entering the data into the system and going out of the system via designing a graphical design which we call data flow diagram or DFD. This data flow diagram is mostly used as first or initial steps in the modelling of software or the graphical chart made for the database software. In the data flow diagram there are some components used like entities, and diamond shape for the relationship, with the help of these components the data flow diagram is made

. The DFD at the start level is just to show the relation ship between original system and the external entities. As we move to the more detail version of the DFD then the more details of the DFD are shown.

In the data flow diagram there are components via which the DFD is made so these components are external entities, the connecting data flows ,the processes and the data stores.

There are some tools with the help of which we can made Data flow diagrams very easily like Microsoft Visio , Coral RUN ,Dia ,silverrun and many more.
From all of these the Microsoft Visio is the much more handy and good for use.
