A Goliath is a bet that requires eight selections from a selection of different events. The Goliath consists of 246 bets in total. These bets consist of the following; 28 doubles, 56 trebles, 70 four-fold accumulators, 56 five-fold accumulators, 28 six-fold accumulators, 8 seven-fold accumulators and 1 eight-fold accumulator. There are no single bets involved in a Goliath bet.

Therefore, to win with a Goliath the bettor requires a minimum of two of their selections to be successful to get any return. The more selections that are successful, the more winnings they will receive. Because there are so many bets involved, keep the stakes low as your stake will be multiplied by the number of bets. The Goliath is a popular bet for people who want to have the chance to win big for little money. The accumulators are attractive for this reason but are very difficult to pull off the more winners they need.

Say we were betting on generally hot favourites such as man you, barca, inter etc to win in a home game against a mediocre team and we put 8 of theses on in a 'goliath bet' how many successful coming in do you think we would need to break even - 5 wins out of 8? 6 maybe?

Actually, it is 247 bets!

1. Quick check, all the numbers given are even apart from 1, so the total must be odd

2. Medium check, 2^8 - 8 - 1 is 247

3. Slow check, add all the numbers up again!
