Other than coincidence it's likely to mean they they both reacted in the same way to the same stimulus. They made have seen, or heard, or smelt something that triggered the same response.
It's particularly true if they're long-time friends, or even more so if they're life partners, for they may react to an experience they shared sometime in the past.
