Prohibition is referred to as dry Law. It is used to describe a law in a certain country according to which the manufacture, transportation, import, exports and sale of alcohol is prohibited or restricted. It is considered illegal. It may also refer to the periods or time in history when the prohibition was enforced in different countries and religions.

Islam or the Muslim world prohibits or forbids the consumption of alcoholic beverages. Prohibition was an active movement in many countries during the early twentieth century. It is believed that the impetus or momentum for this movement came from the Protestant wariness of alcohol. This movement was also known as the dry movement and was implemented in several countries like United States, Russia, Iceland, Norway, Finland and other nations.
