Hercules is one of the most well known demi gods. He’s the son of Zeus and is revered for his strength. Hercules was called the protector of mankind and his symbol is the club, or the lion skin.
The symbol of Hercules
Hercules is sometimes represented by the club because this was his weapon of choice, even though he was very capable of killing just about anything with his bare hands because of his incredible strength.
The lion skin is another symbol used to represent Hercules because one of his twelve trials required that he slay the Nemean Lion, an animal that lived in a cave near the town of Nemea.
It was said that this lion had a golden coat that was impenetrable, and many men failed to kill the creature. Eventually, Hercules was successful.
