Daniel is one of the many prophets that are mentioned in the Hebrew scriptures, and he is the protagonist in the book of Daniel. The book is written in Hebrew in parts, as well as Aramaic in other parts.

The initial six chapters speak of Daniel and his experiences in Babylon, consisting of tales Daniel's escape from the den of a lion, Jews in a burning fire, and the text on a wall at Belshazzars feast.

The rest provides apparitions of the end of time. It also talks about the final judgment.

It is said that the book was written in the 2nd century BC, although it refers to rulers that ruled during the 6th century BC. The morally straight quality of Daniel was the cause of him becoming an ideal for a wronged group of people.
