Connective tissues function to support the body. They bind and connect all types of tissues together. Blood, cartilage, and bone are the ones that are usually considered to be connective tissue.

Connective tissues are known to provide a mechanical framework (the skeleton) which is known to play an important role in locomotion. Connective tissues are characterised by the large amounts of intercellular substance which is also called ground substance that is present in it.

These tissues are known to be few cells that are present and are widely separated from one another
