Analgesics also know as painkiller is one of the members of a varied group of drugs which are used to relive pain. Analgesic drugs act in many varied ways on the peripheral and central nervous system. Which comprise of Paracetamol, the nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like salicylates, Narcotics drugs like morphine, synthetic drugs which have narcotic features like tramadol and many others.

Many other modules of drugs which are not generally thought to be analgesics are useful in the treatment of neuropathic ache syndromes which comprise of tricyclic antidepressants and anticonvulsants.

The precise line of action of paracetamol is till date not clear, but it appears to affect the central nervous system. Aspirin and the NSAIDs slow down the process of cyclooxygenase which in turn leads to the reduction of the prostaglandin production.
