Passive abuse is a form of abuse that is less overt. The most frequent form of passive abuse is: Neglect. Neglect as passive abuse can be inflicted upon dependent children, elderly, and people with disabilities.

Passive abuse includes the person who does nothing while the abuse is going on or that participates in the cover up of it.  Such as the mother in law who gets on the stand and lies for her abusive son.  Or the father in law that remains silent or leaves to escape hearing what is going on.

Abuse is termed as a complex psychosocial problem that affects large numbers of adults as well as children throughout the world. The passive abuse is the effect of any type of abuse to the masses or individuals. It does not harm them directly, rather it effects indirectly.
