Most people think that midnight is the witching hour, while that might be, there is a time in the night when it seems that paranormal activity starts to occur. It's said this is when a spirit is going to be most active. Hope this helps.
I have got most of my spirit activity between the hours of 1.30 am to 4.00 am that is when no noise is around to interfere with an investigation and this is the time when wind and temperature changes occur, the barometric pressure is at its thinnest at these hours and wind depletes to a still. If it's a full moon the electro-magnetic energy from the moon helps with an EMF detector but at times may give disrupting signals. Night vision is better when there is a full moon. Noises and vibrations from the ground are at this time less frequent from passing semis and lots of automobiles passing by an area that you're ghost hunting in. Believe it or not the ground vibrates less at these morning hours from heavy traffic areas. So a vibration detector can be used at these time unaffected by such noises. EVPs are more sensitive at these hours because of lack of radio and cell phones being used at these times so there is a lot less radio interference too. That's why 3.am is called dead time; I have been a paranormal investigator for 12 years and as any investigator I have to assume facts and proof before a determination. Most of the time there are explanations for things and I try to investigate all aspects before I call an area paranormal. I have had less than a handful of evidence that I couldn't explain and 90% I can explain. But it's fun and there is some scientific aspect to it get familiar with an area and investigate the area at day time and when you're ready for a night hunt at least you will know the layout of the area.
Dead time or 3 AM is when the highest level of Paranormal activity begins.
3am Dead Time is the time when there is the least amount of neighbor noise and traffic noise to interfere with silly TV show versions of ghost hunting.
