Sean is a boy’s name and the origins of the name can be traced back to Hebrew. The country of origination is said to be Ireland. It has been derived from the English name John or the French name Jean. The meaning of the name is same as the meaning of John that is, “God is gracious”. It is a very popular name, especially as a first name. It is not as common as a surname. Some other names that have the same meaning are: Jack, Yanni, Yannis, Yanny, Giovanni and Juan.
