Australia is on the move. The land down under is currently moving north by about 7 centimeters (2.75 inches) annually due to normal tectonic movements, and, as a result, the nation’s local coordinates are out of sync with those from the global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) by over 1.5 meters (4.9 feet) — which, incidentally, is the average height of a kangaroo
I did NOT know that, Ancient One, and quite fascinating...seven cm annually is really quite a lot!

That means we need to get ready to wave to Didge and family as they sail by.
At last science is beginning to catch up with what we, in Australia, already knew. Researchers still have a long way to go, of course, because Australia has already completed history's most incredible journey.
Those legends, popularised by Plato, about Atlantis sinking below the waves missed the mark. It didn't sink, it moved. From it's location in the Atlantic Ocean (between the Old and New Worlds) Atlantis travelled south around Cape Horn, dodged around New Zealand, and settled into its present location. There it waited for aeons before being re-discovered by Dirk Hartog and his ilk.
Scoffers will tell you this was not possible but they're forgetting one thing: continental drift. Since it was much closer to the Big Bang there was much potential energy still being unleashed so it only took a few million years for the journey to be completed.
Remember, you heard it here first. God bless Blurtit!
All continents are moving. They have been doing so for millions of years.
I'm less concerned about Australia moving, than the moon moving away from the Earth.
That's quite a bit. Must mess with GPS.
