After the papal election in 2013, Pope Francis walked out onto his balcony to acknowledge the crowd or adoring Catholics who had waited to welcome him. But he was not alone. A man stood beside him.

A journalist covering the event turned to his companion and said, "Who's that?"

And was told, "I don't know the guy in the white pyjamas, but the other one is Fred Jenkins."
