A rattle is a type of a percussion instrument, it mainly consists of a hollow body, and this body is filled up by small uniform solid objects, mostly sand or nuts. Shaking this percussion in a proper rhythm, the instrument produces dry timber noises. These noises are mostly repetitive. In certain kinds of musical forms a rattle also assumes the role of a metronome; it is a type of an alternative drum. The Rattle instrument was in the ancient world. In modern times the instrument plays its role in the Cha Cha Cha, Jazz and the Tango. A rattle is said to be an idiophone.
