Do you think the name you are given can affect your future? And what are the most "successful" names out there?

Interesting question Kass and it reminds me of the episode that Homer Simpson changed his name to "Max Power" after seeing it on a hair dryer.  I swear this is one of the funniest episodes of the Simpsons that I've ever seen.  Where do they get all these crazy ideas from?

Homer Simpson is Max Power

Anyway, I definitely agree that there are powerful names that can be more catchy to people that an original birth name.  That's the reason for pseudonyms used by artists, writers, celebrities, etc.  Like Bob Dylan or Boris Karloff - I've always like that last one.  It sounds strong, don't you think?

But although there is a long list of great names to chose from, I definitely go for Max Power.  It always make me smile!

Haha great answer! I remember reading something about how the number of syllables in your name and which syllables were stressed could affect your future success... but now I realise it's so simple. Max Power! Why didn't I think of that!!

There are a lot of theories around about how your name determines your personality, your future, even your past. I just like to believe a name is just a name, although but for some people it has meaning. In many cases people chose names because it was the name of someone important in their lives, for others is a matter of tradition or religion, others like to name others after celebrities, or nature, or months of the year.... The reason? I don't know. I guess it's just a matter of "like".

I don't think there could be a rule in which your name affects your future. The name depends on who chose it and the future depends on you. Just as Addilyn says, the person makes the name. Your name can be an icon of success but because of your success.

No. You are who you are. That name you are given at birth...you give it light. Nobody else lights up that name quite like yourself. You give your own name power. YOURSELF.

If you are going to live life believing that your name can bring you future success then so be it! But that name is yours and therefore everything you do in your life affects it. So if you want to put your name in tatters and do crime then your name is going to stick out like a sore carrot (no idea why the term 'carrot' but work with me). However choose to achieve big then your name will bring itself more power and ring!

Now of course people change their names to sound better. That's fair enough but your real name is the one that gives you real identity. It tells a story of who you are. Tells a story about why your parents chose it and where it came from. Maybe they chose it because the name meant something powerful to your parents...that name is POWER in itself. That name is beautiful in itself. Its up to you if you want to live up to your name's power and expectation. Or if you want to prove it wrong and be a fool.

Remember... Its the power and importance you give your name that changes your future. Your name is simply what people use to call you. But you yourself acting out in good ways makes people say your name in positive ways. That's what makes your name special then.

Oh and there are no successful names, just successful people with dreams and goals that were achievable in the right time.
