What Does Halloween Mean?

Halloween, also spelt as Hallowe'en, is basically a custom celebrated on the night of October 31st, mainly by kids, by dressing up in various costumes and going house to house collecting sweets, fruits and sorts of treats.

There are a number of customary Halloween tricks which consist of costume parties, watching horror films, visiting haunted houses and customary autumn activities like hayrides, a few of these even "haunted". Halloween was initially started as the Pagan festival by the Celts of Ireland and Great Britain.

The Irish, Scots, Welsh and other colonizers passed the versions of the practice to places like North America during the nineteenth century. Halloween is celebrated in nearly all the section of the Western World, chiefly in the United States, Canada, UK, Ireland, Peru and with increasing popularity in countries like Australia and New Zealand.

Yep it derives from the English tradition of the Feast of Samhain back in the Middle Ages, when countryfolk celebrated the harevsting of the season's crops.October 31st was celebrated as a Festival of the Dead as the myth back then was it was the only time of the year when the barriers between this world and the " next world" were thinnest, letting the undead roam the earth for one night.This Festival of the Dead was when lighted pumpkins were first used to ward off the dead.

It is also a day believed to let the dead, witches,ghouls, any monsterous creature, cross freely between our worl and their world to spend time out and travel out to venture and trouble those who interpert them incorrectly or ect also known for bad luk being the highest and baddest,please excuse my spelling. It was a british celtic tradition where they had new years day on november the 1st. So they thought all the spirit came out then and gave out cakey bread. The americans turned this into trick or treating. It was known as the end of summer - samhain.
