I am writing a poem as well, but mine is free verse. My choice would be to Change the line up to make winter in a different position.

Your making me think too hard...the only one that's coming to mind is "splinter"
There aren't many full rhymes, Sprinter, printer and sinter (a deposit from hot springs) could be used. Otherwise how about part-rhymes like sinister or carpenter? Or maybe you could change the line so winter isn't the last word?
