The American billion is only 1000th of the British one
so
$4.8 British Billion is $4.8 x 1,000,000,000,000 or $4,800,000,000,000.00
whilst using the American Billion it's only $4,800,000,000.00 which the British would call four thousand eight hundred million.
Both were named by the French anyway!
Note that the Brits often use the US Billion these days just confuse the issue
Anyway Bill Gates is'nt a Billionaire when he's in England, Australia or New Zealand, he's only worth worth fourty thousand million. LOL
