Usually a reliable source is more than just the newspaper or a magazine, it's usually from a more meaningful source like a book or publication from a PhD. Or whomever.
A reliable source would be able to be trusted to be accurate or to provide a correct result.
An unreliable source is not to be relied on or trusted.
