Self preservation is a human beings response to a danger. For example, if you were falling, you may position your body in a way so as to sustain the least amount of energy. If someone was going to hit you, you may cover your face. The desire to "save yourself".

Self preservation in my dictionary is that if someone is preserved to himself not to much social or in other words if you want to to get respect from others for your self.

Well, it is all about being and loving one self. You need to have self-respect in order to make others respect you. You have to be firm and strong as well.
