The five commonly accepted aspects of personality are as follows:
Openness to experience
Conscientiousness
Extraversion
Agreeableness
Neuroticism
(This can be remembered by the acronym OCEAN).
These five factions are used widely in psychometric personality testing, surveys that are implemented by organisations in the recruitment and selection process for new members of staff.
It is important to not be misled by the positive and negative associations with these words- for example, agreeableness. Agreeable people are more well-liked than disagreeable people, however, agreeableness is not useful in situations that require objective decision making skills in tough situations. Therefore, "disagreeable" people can make excellent scientists, critics or soldiers.
