Amon is simply a variant of Amen. The meaning of the word itself is faithful; true. The word Amon is a noun and is used in Egyptian Mythology. Amon was a primeval deity who was worshiped especially at Thebes. He was the personification of air and breath represented as either a ram or a goose. He was later identified with Amen-Ra as he is identified with Ra- the sun god of Heliopolis. He was the god of life and reproduction represented as a man with a ram's head.
