The meaning of the two words that are conjugated together to form the term can make you understand the term well.

Theocratic is a word that is used as an adjective for the kind of government that is headed by the religious leaders and the word 'republican' describes a form of government that is headed by the leader who is elected by the people and the state has no king or queen even as a ceremonial post.

So the term 'theocratic republican' can be used for the kind of government that is headed by a religious leader but he is not imposed on the people but is an elected representative of the country. In this kind of government, though the leader is being elected for the development of the country but usually it is seen that he takes the country towards religious fundamentalism and it is because of this reason that this form of government is not making any headway.
