The word 'Isere' is used to convey the idea of a river that is located in the country of France, but where the word come from and what does it convey is difficult to decide. Even an area in France is also known as 'Isere' but that area also is named after the river. So the only thing pertinent about the meaning of the word 'Isere' is the name of the river.

The Isere is a two hundred and ninety kilometres long stretch of water located in the southeastern part of France and the source of the river can be traced in the Alps near the ski resort called Val d'Isere. The upper valley of the river is known as Tarentaise and it flows through many areas of France. The areas are Savoie, Isere and Drome.
