Originally, Maite is not a Spanish name, its a Basque female name, which in basque language means 'to love'.. In Spanish language maite doesnt mean anything, but some spanish people called Maria Teresa, use maite as a nickname.. I know it because I'm basque, I speak spanish and maite is my mums name. X

This is not true at all... Maite is a short name given to a girl named Maria Teresa, ergo Maite... The beloved concept is nothing but a translation...

My name is maite and my parents said it meant I love you and/or lovable,I like my name,its unique and I'm the only maite in my school :) I'm only 11
