Supernumerary refers to any member of the staff committee. It refers to the employees who work in any of the public offices and along with this he is not supposed to be a part of the manpower compliment. Supernumerary refers to an employee who is temporary but in addition to the staff that is permanent.

The term's use has originated from Spanish and Latin American government and the academy. The counterpart of supernumerary is numeracy. The term numeracy refers to a civil label that is given to people those who are fixed in a permanent society or group. Therefore it contradicts the meaning of the term supernumerary which is a temporary contract employment.
