A tantrum is defined as a back-flip over the wake. It means the same thing as a fit. A tantrum is basically defined as a display of bad temper. It refers of an emotional outburst. It is usually thrown by young children who are between the ages of three and six years. Most children throw a tantrum when they are upset or bothered, and others throw tantrums thinking they will get something which they want.

The words and phrases which are similar in meaning to the word tantrum are outburst, fit of temper, fit and paroxysm (the word paroxysm is similar in meaning to the words convulsion, fit, outburst and spasm). People throw tantrums or let out emotional outbursts when the higher functions of their brain are unable to stop the emotional expression of the lower functions of the brain, which control the emotional and physical functions of the brain.
