The term equine refers to a horse. The horse basically is a large odd-toed ungulate mammal, which is one of the ten contemporary species of the genus Equus.

From ages horses have been amid the most economically vital domesticate animals, though their significance has declined with mechanization. They are till date found across the globe, fitting into human lives in many varied ways. The horse is well-known in religion, mythology and art having played an important role in haulage, agriculture as well as in war.

It has even supplied as source of food, fuel and clothing. Horses were initially introduced in the Americas, but soon vanished there, until they were reintroduced by the Europeans. Some species of horses can be trained and ridden with a saddle, where as other breeds can be attached to objects like carriages and plows and use them for various purposes.
