Multidimensional refers to of, or possessing many dimensions. A dimension is basically one side of a particular object. Multidimensional, as the word suggests, is something that is characterised by more than two dimensions or aspects.

This term may be used to refer to something that is tangible, for example, "the box has three dimensions", or, it may be used to refer to something that is intangible, for example, "the mystery behind the murder is complex, it is multidimensional".

The opposite of the word multidimensional is the word undimensional, that which has no dimensions.

In the area of statistics and related areas, multidimensional analysis is a procedure that is used to analyse data. It basically categorises data into two broad groups, data dimensions and measurements.
