The term "life-cycle" has different connotations in different aspects of learning. Typically the life-cycle means the "series of stages or phases of life."

In the parlance of Biology and Biotechnology, it means the course of progressive changes in an organism from the fertilized zygote to maturity when another zygote is formed. In technological parlance, the life-cycle can imply the functional phase of an information system. As we all know in today's world information systems and software have the tendency to get outdated rather quickly with modernisation, and at times sweeping modifications or changes in technology. The stage in the life of the information system where it can deliver good quality service is called as its life-cycle.

In investment parlance, we see that the choice of investments can change according to the age of a person and the vagaries of the market. The investment instruments tend to have a certain "life-cycle" in tune with the tenure of the investments. The life of the business concern spanning the inception of the product, growth, development, expansion, diversification, amalgamation, merger, and decline can be described as a "life-cycle. For a product or service, right from the time a product is created till it is consumed or disposed is known as the life-cycle of the product or the service. The tenure during which a positive reaction to an ad campaign is elicited is called the life-cycle of that advertising campaign.

An animal life cycle is basically how long an animal lives before it dies. For example, the time that it is born, then its various stages until it eventually dies such as infant, adolescent and adult.

Each animal has a different life cycle and if you want to know about a specific type then you will need to research it. The pregnancy lasts for different time periods in different animals and so the life cycle there differs also. Another thing to keep in mind is that a parrot for example can live up to be 99 years old and possibly longer. A mouse on the other hand only usually lives a couple of years if that.

So overall an animal life cycle is literally the different stages of an animals life before it finally dies.
