What Does Microbiology Mean?

Microbiology if literally broken down would stand for micro meaning 'small' bio meaning 'life' and loge meaning 'study'. Therefore microbiology is the study of unicellular or cell-cluster microorganisms which are too small to be seen with a naked eye and special microscopes are used for seeing them. Hence, special techniques are required to grow and study them. Microbiology also studies the effect such microorganisms have on human beings.
Microorganisms include virus, bacteria, algae, fungi and protozoa.
