Cystic refers to a disease named as cystic fibrosis. Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a common inherited disease that has its influences on the entire body. It causes progressive disability an early death. The most common symptoms of the disease are difficulty in breathing, frequent lung infections, which are treaded and not always cured by antibiotics and other medications. It has a huge number of additional symptoms which includes poor growth, sinus infections, diarrhoea, and fertility complications for females.

CF has been the most common life shortening disease amongst the Europeans and Ashkenazi Jews. Out of every 20 people in the Europe, 1 person carries one gene of CF with them. There is no cure for CF but there are many treatments which control or if not control, slow down the succession of the disease.

The word cystic is refers to the Cystic fibrosis (CF), which is an inherited disease that affects the lungs, digestive system, sweat glands, and male fertility. Its name derives from the fibrous scar tissue that develops in the pancreas, one of the principal organs affected by the disease.
