Power over ethernet.  It means the network cable can supply enough power to power a small device like a telephone without required a wall outlet.

Power over Ethernet (PoE) is a technology for local area networks with Ethernet cable (LAN) that allows electrical power required for the operation of each device to be carried by the data cables rather than power cables . This reduces the number of child to be threaded for the installation of the network.

When you see the  datasheet of switch, if you see that it has IEEE 802.3af Standards, it means that this switch supports POE that can supply power for small device like AP,telephone with RJ45 port.

For example, this switch has the POE function:

PoE means Power over Ethernet meaning the switch can support power to a device via a data cable rather than power cord.

If you're looking towards a new WiFi standard like 802.11ac, it may make sense to go ahead and move towards PoE+ for wireless access points and other networked systems.

Power over Ethernet (PoE) is a technology for wired Ethernet LANs (local area networks) that allows the electrical current necessary for the operation of each device to be carried by the data cables rather than by power cords. Doing so minimizes the number of wires that must be strung in order to install the network. The result is lower cost, less downtime, easier maintenance, and greater installation flexibility than with traditional wiring.

Huawei S5720-EI series enhanced gigabit Ethernet switches (S5720-EI for short) are next-generation switches that provide flexible GE access ports and 10GE uplink ports. S5720-EI provides large table sizes and higher hardware processing capabilities than similar switches. It supports IPv6, intelligent stack (iStack), flexible Ethernet networking. S5720-EI is widely for aggregation/access in enterprise campus networks or gigabit access in data center networks.

Fifth rate bit of junk compared with Cisco's offering though, and they can't afford proper marketing, hence the spam in here.
