Resources can be used to mean many things. It is normally used to describe materials or products which are of value. It can also be used to describe anything which is used to supply or source something else.
Resources are something that can be used to achieve an aim. Or a stock or supply of materials or assets.
If you r talking about resources on a map you r talking about how much oil,gold or meat or anything that gives your country or city lots of money for example New Zealand has a good resource of sheep wool.
