Merit in general is said to be that possessions of good work, which enables you to be given an award. Merits are only available that are good, where as bad works regardless of the fact that they help or hurt a third party are entitled to demerit and the out come deserves punishment. There are many Ethics and theology that clearly distribute two kinds of merits, Condign Merit or Quasi Merit.

Condign merit assume a fairness flanked by service and return, it is calculated by cumulative Justice and hence gives a proper claim to a reward, where as the Quasi merit is based on owing to the insufficiency and the lack of fundamental proportion in between the service and the recompense. Hence person claims for a reward on the basis of equality.
