The standard translation of 'I love you' from English to Spanish is 'te Quiero'. This is pronounced as 'tey keero'.

However, as with many languages, it is often the case that a different word or phrase is used to mean the same thing for different circumstances.

In Spanish, the phrase 'te quiero' is considered to be appropriate when it used to speak to anyone you may love, including your spouse, parents, brothers and sisters or friends.

However, the phrase 'te amo' (the verb of 'amo' is 'amar') should only be used when referring to your lover or spouse, not your parents, siblings or friends.

For translations from English to a whole variety of languages, you should use Google translator which is completely free and can be found through this link: http://translate.google.com/. Just pick the language that you want to translate from and the language you want and the computer will do everything else for you. If you want to translate whole documents, then use the following link and proceed to upload the document that you want translated: http://translate.google.com/?tr=f&hl=en.

If you are visiting Spain and would like to try and experience some of the native culture and language, you should consider picking up a phrase book which could easily be found for quite cheap on a shopping website such as Amazon or any local bookstore. If you don't want to buy a full book and would just like to brush up on a couple of phrases, then the following two websites will be helpful as they contain different categories which you can select from. In the individual categories there will be numerous useful phrases that you can use in everyday Spanish conversation.
